Dr. Kathy Clark is the owner of Clark Veterinary Hospital, started by her father in 1955. Growing up in the area, she has a close connection to her clients and their pets, many of whom she has known for a long time.
Dr. Clark graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Science. She continued her education with a PhD in Genetics from the University of New Hampshire in 1980. In 1984 Dr. Clark earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) from Tufts University.
As a member of several veterinary associations, including the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), the American Heartworm Society, the International Society of Feline Medicine, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners, Dr. Clark continues to be apprised of the latest developments in veterinary medicine. She attends conferences and seminars in her ongoing efforts to bring the best care to her patients.
In addition to her association with various veterinary organizations, Dr. Clark is a member of the Noank Community Band where she not only plays the oboe and English horn, but is also the treasurer. She has two daughters, Sarah and Leslie, both of whom are continuing their educational goals in obtaining master degrees. Sarah is currently residing in Massachusetts and Leslie is now living in North Carolina. The Clark family also includes a horse, Allie, Buddy, who is a rescue Pit Bull and two cats, Baby and Cat.
Dawn Dawn started at our practice as a receptionist in 1994; she soon became an assistant when her love and interest for animals became very evident. She is well acquainted with our animal patients and gives each and every one the best care possible and the benefit of all the expertise and knowledge she has gained over the years. During her time with us, she has provided a loving home for several various sized dogs and cats who have benefited greatly from her extra-ordinary patience and willingness to provide the best possible environment.
Meghan Meghan grew up in the area and has been working in the field for the past 15 years. She has a liberal arts degree. When not in the hospital, Meg spends time hiking, photographing her adventures, and loving her 2 cats, Opie and Mutant, and a tank of tropical fish.
Lance Lance comes to us with degrees in business management, environmental science and a bachelor’s in microbiology. He became a veterinary assistant assisting in emergency surgery in New York in 2007. He is married with 2 rescue dogs, Azaria and Isabella, and continues to run a family business in New London.
Alisha Alisha came to us in 2011 with several years of experience in animal care. She is currently with us part-time as she is very busy raising her family.
Stella Stella started with us in the fall of 2011 as a student observer while attending college. We hired her that summer as an assistant and have been very fortunate to have her stay with us part-time as she continues her studies. Stella has proven to be a very caring and capable addition to our staff and while no longer positive that she will complete the time required to be a veterinarian, she does know that she wants to work in the animal field.
Debbie Debbie graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social work and has spent twenty-six years working in the human field of medicine. She has successfully transferred the skills acquired working with her human patients to the care and treatment of the pets she encounters at Clark Veterinary. Debbie has a great compassion for all animals, tame or wild, and has been known to save injured wildlife when they cross her path. She is the proud owner of five dogs, all rescued from less than ideal circumstances and now living in a loving home.
Beverly Beverly started with the practice in October 2009. She has had many years of experience in office management and an extensive background in customer service. Early on in life, she developed a genuine respect and love for cats and dogs.
After a period of time without a pet, Stevie, a now large, orange and white male, has taken charge of her life. He just turned three years old and despite some neurological issues, he decidedly runs the household schedule.
Marcia Marcia has been with the practice since September 2007. Her smiling face and genuine interest in the people who come through our door has made her a client favorite. It is not uncommon for client to ask for her personally and be disappointed if she is off. Marcia has many duties-answering four lines, scheduling appointments and assisting in the filing and record keeping required for all patients. Despite the somewhat hectic schedule, she never fails to respond courteously to all questions and concerns.
Candy Candy has been with us since April of 2014. She has previously spent many years working with community organizations as a Case Manager and facilitator of community relations. From helping women in recovery, she has transitioned to aiding clients in their goal of finding appropriate medical care for their pets. As she states, “I now leave work with a smile on my face and joy in my heart.”
